Understanding Clinical Guidelines

Clinical guidelines are evidence-based recommendations developed by medical experts to support healthcare professionals in diagnosing and managing specific conditions. They are informed by the latest scientific research and clinical experience, helping to standardize care and improve patient outcomes. In the field of dyslipidaemia, these guidelines play a powerful role in shaping how the condition is identified and treated.

However, for many patients, caregivers, and advocates, they can feel complex and difficult to translate into everyday care. This section of our website is designed to make that information more accessible and practical. Here, you’ll find recordings of our educational webinars alongside links to key clinical guidelines, to help you better understand what they mean for real-world management and decision-making.

The patient-focused 3-part webinar series

To help make clinical guidelines easier to understand and apply in everyday life, the FH Europe Foundation has developed a three-part webinar series, “From Evidence to Everyday Life: Understanding the ESC–EAS Dyslipidaemia Guidelines.” Across the three sessions, experts and patient representatives explore how guidelines are created, explain the key recommendations from the ESC/EAS 2019 guidelines and their 2025 focused update, and discuss how patients can use this information to support informed, shared decision-making with their healthcare providers.
